The project consisted of the design of this terminal underground station for the Airport Express Line as well as the Blue line. This was, at the time, the largest metro station in the country.
Besides serving as a transport hub for the Delhi Metro, two floors of the station will be used for commercial purposes. It will also be the first Delhi Metro station to feature hotel rooms within the complex. As of August 2014 it had the largest rooftop solar plant in the city. Through this plant, the DMRC plans to produce power for all operations at Dwarka Sector 21 station. The plant has a capacity of 500 kW every day, and is the largest of its kind in NCR under the Renewable Energy Service model.
